Portofino Collection 55% Viscose 35% Wool 10% Cotton Handwoven Modern Living Room Rug – Anthracite
The Portofino Collection Handwoven Rug is a modern, linear collection that combines elegance and comfort with a blend of 55% viscose, 35% wool, and 10% cotton. The silky sheen of viscose, the warmth of wool, and the lightness of cotton come together in one rug. Its 10 mm pile height offers balanced softness, while its weight of 5000 g/m² gives it a substantial, dense, and long-lasting structure. With its Mediterranean-inspired modern design, it brings timeless style to spaces such as living rooms and lounges. This variant stands out in a dark, sophisticated anthracite (smoky gray) shade, with the silky sheen of viscose shifting in the light.
What Are Viscose, Wool, and Cotton?
The Portofino Collection is made from a balanced blend of viscose, wool, and cotton fibers, each contributing its own qualities to the rug. Viscose is a natural-origin regenerated fiber made from wood cellulose; its silk-like softness and natural sheen add radiance to the surface. Wool is a natural fiber from sheep that provides warmth, flexibility, and durability. Cotton is a natural, breathable, and durable plant-based fiber that gives the rug balance and shape. The Portofino Collection brings together 55% viscose, 35% wool, and 10% cotton. This blend balances the silky sheen of viscose, the warmth and durability of wool, and the shape retention of cotton. Combined with a 10 mm pile height and a dense weave weighing 5000 g/m², it creates a luxurious, substantial, and long-lasting handwoven rug, both visually and structurally.
Is Viscose a Natural Fiber?
Viscose is not entirely a natural fiber, but it is a natural-origin fiber made from regenerated cellulose. Its raw material comes from natural sources such as wood and plant cellulose; it is not a petroleum-based synthetic fiber like polyester or nylon. Viscose therefore stands out as a natural-origin fiber that offers silk-like natural sheen and softness. In the Portofino Collection, viscose combines with wool and cotton to create a balanced blend of natural and natural-origin fibers.
Portofino and the Mediterranean Breeze
Portofino is a famous and elegant Mediterranean fishing village on Italy’s Ligurian coast, known around the world for its pastel-colored buildings, tranquil harbor, and clear light falling on the shore. The Portofino Collection brings this Mediterranean breeze into living spaces with a modern interpretation. The village’s soft, airy color palette is reflected in the rug’s warm natural shades and simple lines. Its viscose fiber offers a silky sheen that shifts across the surface depending on the angle of the light, like the shimmer of Mediterranean sunlight on water. The wool and cotton balance this sheen with a warm, substantial texture. The result is a collection that gives spaces both a calm, elegant Mediterranean atmosphere and a modern, luxurious character.

How Do You Clean a Viscose Blend Rug?
Portofino Collection viscose-wool-cotton blend rugs should only be cleaned by professional rug-cleaning services. Because the viscose and wool fibers are sensitive to water and excessive moisture, washing at home, machine washing, or wet cleaning is not recommended. For everyday care, use a vacuum cleaner with low suction and gently blot any stains with a slightly damp cloth to help preserve the rug’s silky sheen, texture, and colors for a long time.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
