The Story of This Rug

The Khorjin (saddlebag) pattern comes from the nomadic weaving tradition stretching from the Caucasus to Anatolia and then to Eastern Iran. Each stripe is adorned with small stars, rhombuses, roses, and animal figures as if bearing the signature of a different tribe. This composition, matured in Shirvan and Akstafa rugs, is brought back to life today on naturally dyed wool through the Chobi reinterpretation carried out in Afghan workshops.

Why a Single-Piece Handwoven Afghan Rug

  1. Each rug is crafted by a single weaving team; it is impossible to reproduce the exact same piece.
  2. 100% Ghazni sheep wool resists stains thanks to natural lanolin and develops a patina over the years.
  3. Natural root and bark dyes fade and soften over time, unlike synthetic colors.
  4. The asymmetric Persian knot ensures dense and durable weaving.
  5. Natural washed finish gives the rug an antique texture and a soft hand feel.

Color and Pattern

On the multicolored Khorjin background, stripes in golden yellow, indigo, ivory, walnut, and green tones are arranged at equal intervals. Each stripe carries tiny stars, roses, rhombuses, and animal figures within itself. The border is framed by a palmette and rosette chain composition.

Care Recommendations

  • Vacuum once a week with low power and without a brush.
  • Remove stains by gently pressing with a damp white cloth; do not rub.
  • Have it professionally checked by a rug cleaner every 3-4 years.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and use a rug pad.

This rug, delivered as a numbered original artwork, is a unique piece bearing the weaver’s signature.

Protect Elegance
A delicate care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of handwoven and natural fiber Carpetdocia pieces that add value to your living space for generations.

Immediate Action and Liquid Contact
Timing is the most critical factor in case of possible liquid spills. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to gently blot the liquid from the surface without rubbing. Always perform this action in the direction of the carpet’s nap (the natural direction of the fibers). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers like TENCEL™ and viscose. Stop the intervention immediately if you have any doubts.

Routine Care and Light Balance
Always prefer vacuum cleaners with low suction power in your weekly cleaning routine. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the reaction of natural fibers to light and prevent regional tone differences (fading), we recommend changing the orientation of your carpet every 2 to 6 months.

Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble textures such as handwoven, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the silky shine and structural integrity of the carpet. For deep cleansing, support should be sought only from professional carpet care centers specialized in natural fibers.

Washing Instructions
Delicate pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their structure. (Only specific models clearly labeled "Washable" in their name can be washed in household machines on a low heat and delicate cycle.)
